There is a thin line between love and hate
Basically, Harry has to hate Ginny because she is a bloodtraitor and he is a pureblood Slytherin. They secretly are lusting after each other though, but want to keep it a secret. Then Ginny catches him doing dark magic on some first years and never wants to speak to him again. During the war, they find each other again, but he has to kill her because it would be better that way, with him not betraying his family and following The Dark Lords orders.
